This “On the Trail of the Jesuits” cultural tour offers a guided day trip from Mexico City to the magical town (Pueblo Mágico) of Tepotzotlán. The day starts at the National Museum of Viceroyalty (the old school of novices), where you admire paintings, sculptures, silverwork and feather-work, then the temple of San Francisco Javier, named a UNESCO World Heritage site and known as “the jewel of the Spanish crown” for its baroque altarpieces.
The route then leads to a former Jesuit hacienda that produced pulque, then crosses the Arcos del Sitio, the highest aqueduct in Latin America, built by the Jesuit order. The afternoon is devoted to a handicraft workshop and a traditional Mexican meal before returning. An ideal activity for curious travellers, history lovers, couples or small groups.
